I have no clue what tagged me, but the back of my ankle is nice and red in an area approximately the size of a quarter. That area is raised and somewhat hardened and itches like mad.

I was sitting in my office last night, felt something crawling on my right foot, and instead of turning the light on and seeing what it is, I assumed it was a loose pinhead cricket and attempted to kick it off with my left foot. The bite is on the back of my left ankle.

I am guessing it was a small native spider as none of Denise's T's have ever going MIA and the only MIA I have is an 3i Isometrus Maculatus that I lost about a month ago, so I am sure it is dead and was not what tagged me (although part of me hopes that it was still alive, but there is no way it would had survived).

So, there ya have it. I got tagged by an unknown native spider. Sorry to dissappoint with the lack of a dramatic story!  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

why do you think it is a spider bite?  there are other bugs that would be more likely to bite you.  did you do any hiking recently?  you might have picked up a tick or something.

also, their is the possibilty of a secondary infection from what would have been an otherwise unremarkable bite/sting.  either the venom injector itself, or more likely your own fingernails can push bacteria or other pathogens into the puncture wound and subsequent micro like, abrasions from your own scratchings.

as for possible spider species that would be able to have a minor effect on humans... man, there are probably quite a few in SoCA.

I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.

No hikes or in any location that would attract more than the usual amount of bugs. I will say that it was irritated within a few seconds of the intitial bite but I pretty much ignored it. It has gotten slightly worse throughout the day, probably due to my sock rubbing it when I move. I assume a spider as it is the only critter I have seen by our 3rd floor aprartment that would fit the rough size and bite. It could be something else, but I feel it is a safe assumption. What I felt on my right foot seemed to be the size of a pinhead cricket (~5-7mm).

I knew I should have turned the light on... At least then I could tell ya what bit me.
