This little monster was a freebie I got with an order I placed a while back. I have become much too used to my laid back T's and being able to service the cage without a care. She chomped me while I was removing her water bowl for a cleaning. She's only about 2" -- Thank God!
The bite itself didn't hurt really at all, but my finger got really swollen and hot. The little fang holes were so small you could hardly see 'em. After a few days the skin peeled around the wound and it just looked nasty. A little pus came out (sorry if this is too gross), and then it healed right up.
No hard feelings, she's still one of my favorite T's. This was my first bite, so at least it's over and done with and I know that this little beastie will attack anything that moves! I have seen her kill a cricket with each fang and then hold a 3rd down with her leg!
Sorry I don't have pictures, but my camera has been broken for a while. Besides, it was so gross, I'd be embarassed. _________________ Mommy loves her little Monsters.
Glad you are ok Christy. Don't be embarrassed, it happens.
Lasiodora's are so cute especially as Juv's but they have an attitude! My Difficilis gives me threat displays all the time. My parahybana Juv will run out of its hide if it sees any movement/shadows. They are little monsters!
Yeah -- be careful! Some of these T's are just for "looking" -- not for "touching"! :-> _________________ "Tarantulas are friends, not food" (but I bet they taste pretty good with butter and lemon!)
I sure know that now! She didn't give me the courtesy of a threat display. Just flew out of the hide, tagged me, flew back. Somewhat of an arachnid "sucker punch". _________________ Mommy loves her little Monsters.
Ive been bitten by A LOT of herps in my time, but no arach bites yet. I look at those fangs and think, "hmmm, Id rather take another hit from a crot than a T"... They're just HUGE, for some reason some of my T's give me the heebee jeebee's (Haplopelmas) but I am just obsessed with em now. Don't worry, Ill prob be joining you in the sunken fang club one of these days, but if I had a choice give me a 15-16 ft. nasty retic bite over my cobalt any day... Sorry ya got tagged, but its interesting though isn't it. I have a little L.p. too, and he's just cute as a button, but I'm sure it wont stay like that for long.. _________________ Reptile Rescue Orange County

I have a lot more respect for her now. My other Ts are all very "beginner" species and I'd never even had so much as a hair kicked in my general direction. She has doubled in size since the bite, and I sure don't wanna see what she can do now! I've been bitten by a kingsnake and a turtle, but those did not compare at all! _________________ Mommy loves her little Monsters.
i know this is quite a while after the fact... but how long after the bite did it get red and hot? was there any red streaking?
i ask because this sounds like a secondary infection did most of the damage... the pus is a strong argument in favor of this, as pus is sometimes comprised in large part of spent white blood cells that have fought an infectious agent

There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
