welcome to the forum dna.

Sure thing, come on over to the BBQ, it's open to all members, you can even bring some inverts for show, trade and sell purposes.

Looking forward to meeting you and btw, good going on scratching the SCABIES itch Wink

Hey guys I was told from "Cacoseraph" to check this place out. My name Louis. I'm quite new to this hobby, into for a few months now. At the moment I'm more into collecting T's. I'm from La Quinta. So I'm probably pretty far from most of you guys. Well I'll post the T's I have below.

0.0.2 Avicularia versicolor
0.0.2 Aphonopelma chalcodes
0.0.1 Brachypelma emilia
0.0.2 Brachypelma smithi

Hello. My name is Gilbert. I just started getting into scorpions. I do not have any yet. I'm doing the smart thing and getting some information on them before I get one. I was told that i should start out with an emperor or asian forest. I am leaning more towards asian forest. I have done some research on it but looking for some more advice. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and I am not an alcoholic either.

Hi, Gilbert

Flat Rock Scorpions are another good scorp for beginners.  They are pretty durable, low-maintenance, and reasonably handleable.  Francisco (ftorres) has some of those, too.

It just depends on what you like or what you think is cool.

You can go out and find your own scorpions locally as well (not Flat Rocks or Emperors, but the local native species).

Welcome to scabies!

hi there,
my name is jason, I am from San Diego.  i think that i have already dealt trade and sale with a few people here before.
I've been in the hobby on and off for about 5 years now.

I used to keep:
carnivorous plants
NW tarantulas
OW tarnatulas
true spiders
fish
shrimps
planted aquariums
planted terrarium
roaches
dwarf crawfish
australian redclaw lobsters
crickets

Now i am keeping:
centipedes
getting into scorpions
orange isopods
dwarf white isopods

and that's it for now, maybe when i have a staple career and have a bigger place, then i will definitely get more.

I am not very active sometime, because i can be busy from time to time, but it's nice to be here and to share this hobby with all you wonderful people that understand.

Welcome back Jason,

It can rapidly get cramped when having a hobby such as this one, I can only speak for myself, but am sure many of us would like more space and lots more things as well Wink

W are always glad to have people come back to the forum, enjoy and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Have fun,

Oscar

Hey guys, just checking in, how's everyone been?  I'm almost ready to go to the reptile show in san diego soon but I get off work at 1pm, I wish I can leave sooner.  Hope everyone has been good and can't wait to see all you in the next get-together.

Hey guys, I was just wondering what kind of substrate does everyone use for Tarantulas.  I've been using 100% natural peat moss, which is great but tends to mold fast.  I just bought all natural potting soil but smells a bit too strong.  What do you guys recommend?  and what name brand of substrate works well?  Thanks.

Most of us use coco-fiber or peat moss or a combination of both.
Watch out that the potting soil doesnt have any fertalizer in it, it can kill your T.

Welcome!  If Mexico wasn't such a dangerous place to be right now, I'd definitely head down there for sure!  I used to go down to Ensenada and Mexicali all the time a few years ago.  Not so much anymore...

BTW, It'd be nice if you didn't post in all caps Wink
