Okay guys, I have had a succesful breeding on the GBB (When I say succesful, I mean the male wasn't eaten, and there were a few very good inserts). No sac yet but we'll find out very soon. So basically this is just a rough draft, but I want to post anyway. When/or if I get sack i'll finsih it up. I have some pictures to post, but I lost my usb so that will come later on. Enjoy and tell me what you guys think (Through pm, I don't want to piss any mods off =])

Prep

Re-housed female in 25gl-35gl encolsure (About three months prior to finding a male, so giving her enough time to creat a web den/burrow. This particular female has never burrowed, she has always made a web den.), substrate a little over half way filled. Flooded the enclosure with 2qts of water at least once a week.
water (On a different side of the enclosure each time). Acclimate male in a large deli cup (tons of ventilation), or a medium sized kritter keeper on it's side, and filled with pete moss/eco earth.

Breeding Attempts

Introduced male originally on 3/2/09. Every night untill 3/12/09 I would introduce male for 1-4 hours, then remove before I left. Breeding was never witnessed this way, although female would tap untill the male lost interest. I never witnessed the male tap.

3/14/09 I introduced the male into the encolsure and left un-attended up through 3/17/09.

3/15/09 No mating was witnessed altough tons of tapping from the female.

3/16/09 Mating was wittnessed all through out the day a couple good insertions, but they continued afterwards through out the day.

3/17/09 Mating is witnessed in the early morning for less than a hour. The female turned on him after one big very good insert. He made way to his hide, and she chased him all the way there, and even attempted the get in there with him, but I stopped her just in time.

3/17/09 Witnessed male creating sperm web 5:04pm, about ten hours after the breeding occured.

The egg sac is BIG, I didn't realize how large it was until just a few minutes ago. It is probably the size of a tangerine, amazing.

From looking at the timeline, the female molted around Jan 09?

Time from molt to egg sac around 5 months?

Time from first pairing to egg sac around 3 months?

I have more questions.  When did you pull the sac?  And how long does it take for the eggs to eggs with legs, and to first and 2nd instar?   Did you put them in an incubator during the time?

What size was your female and how many eggs and slings you ended up with?

One of my females just dropped a sac.  I'll do a complete report once they get through 1st instar.
