Whew doggies!

For not having a job i sure am busy these days!  For those of you that don't know, i love sci-fi and fantasy.  I love role playing games (tabletop, live action, computer... it's ALL good!). I really love sci-fant RPGs Very Happy

My brothers and i have wanted to build games (i even made a wizard's chess before HP came out) for ages but now we are finally doing it.

It is our goal to have a working alpha version in one year's time.

We are going to make a free to play fully 3D fantasy MMORPG, with one massive, persistent world that all players populate.  We want to make a very rich character class and skill system that allows players to build anything from a combat monster to a swordsmith and play those characters to the hilt.

So far we are almost certainly using Java and are doing preliminary research into what game engines, middleware, and other preexisting libraries we will be using. Right now we are looking at using:
javaMonkeyEngine game engine ->http://www.jmonkeyengine.com/
tied to a Darkstar middle/back end -> http://www.projectdarkstar.com/
possibly run on top of a VAST network -> http://vast.sourceforge.net/

nothing is set in stone, though... if Darkstar and VAST can't play nice one of them will have to get out of the kiddy pool

anyhow, the point of all this is that i might be even more scarce than usual from now till... well, a long time. it's going to be a lot of coding =P
