There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
i saw some cool ~defensive behaviour from a soil centipede as i was collecting them this weekend. it did exactly a defensive backwards lunge. the centipede was about 8cm long. it anchored about 1 cm of the rear, about 1cm from the tail end and then powerfully and quickly bunched up the front end of its body, effectively moving almost a bodylength backwards in will under a second. if you have watched these dudes motorign around you would realize that almost a full bodylength of location displacement in a second is VERY fast for these dudes! it was pretty sweet. i got all excited when i saw it hehehe
